If you have just hopped onto my blog, you can start here as this is a circular hop, but if you want to follow our team's blogs, then please start at the beginning and join Brae Montgomery    http://wp.me/p4htXJ-EqIf you came from Chris Robertson  http://chriscreativelife.blogspot.com/2015/06/brae-er-team-blog-hop-for-home.html then you are in the right place!  Hope you were inspired by her great ideas!

It took some thinking for this blog hop...I'm so used to making cards that I wasn't sure what I wanted to make this time! So I decided to make trivets or hot plates with beautiful designs.  Looks hard, but it's not!!!! I got the original idea from http://blog.sharpie.com/2013/04/coasting-into-spring/  originally using sharpies.  I tried it out with sharpies and was amazed!!  Then I decided to try out my CTMH markers!!  And it worked with them too!!!  See the Different trivets I made using both sharpies and our CTMH markers!  Go to the website listed above for all the directions!  It's so easy to make these beautiful tiles!  I could see making 4 similar or even 4 different 3x3 tiles and packaging them up as a set of coasters!!

Using Sharpies:

Using CTMH Markers

Here is the bottom of the tile with felt bottoms on:

Here's some tiles made by a few of my card class girls!

(Note: darker colors seemed to not bleed as well as the lighter ones....)

In just a few easy steps, you can create these beautiful tiles quickly and for less than 10 bucks! hollaaa! What you’ll need:
  • White ceramic tiles (Home Depo had 100 6x6 tiles for around $30!)
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Small spray bottle and eyedropper (or straw)
  • Your favorite CTMH ShinHan™ Touch Twin™ Marker
You may also want to purchase felt dots (found a 32 round felts for $1 at Dollar Tree) or felt and glue for the bottom of the coasters and a shiny or glossy varnish to seal it.

$6.50 Z2461

Quick steps:
Find white ceramic tile at any hardware store (they should be under a dollar each). Make sure to clean the surface thoroughly with soap and water.
Color with Markers! Pick a combination of dark and vibrant colors to create contrast. There are no wrong choices!
Use a small spray bottle or stirring spoon  or eyedropper to methodically drop small “pools” of alcohol onto the tile. If you drop too much, the colors will all blur together and you won’t get any circles or patterns. Let dry! It can take up to half an hour, so just be patient!
If you think you added too much alcohol, you can go back and add more to create new “pools” on top. It will bloom again!
Seal it using a spray fixative fiAs a finishing touch, glue felt to the bottom of the tile to prevent the edges from scratching your table.
IF you’re really feelin’ crazy, you can add MORE Markers on top of the sealed layer!ll reactivate and blur again. Do it in layers. After that, you can use a varnish or polyurethane to seal it with a glossy coat! Shine, baby, shine!

If ever you feel like you have added too much color or made a mistake, just use a paper towel to dab up some of the extra ink, then recover with a new color. It’s VERY hard to mess this project up!
